The Men’s section is dedicated and consistently growing, catering for all ages and levels of experience, with new players welcomed into the ranks whole heartedly.

The section offers a wide range of hockey opportunity — whether you want strong, competitive hockey or whether you are looking to socialise. The section was first introduced back in 1997 with only one team and now 21 years and 15 premierships later we have grown to have 4 teams.

In 2019 we will have:
• Men’s Vic League 1 (1sts)
• Men’s Vic League Reserve (2nds)
• Men’s Pennant E (3rds)
• Men’s Metro B South

We also encourage young male players (15+) to play within the Senior Mens competitions, in order to continue to grow and develop their hockey under the guidance of respected and experienced Senior Mens players.

Mens Head Coach 2019

The Men’s head coach is Stephen Pate.

Steve has been playing hockey for 30 years. He began his hockey career at Powerhouse St Kilda before moving to play his junior hockey at Sandringham. During his junior years he had four years of regional representation with the Southern Sharks. After short stints at playing with both La Trobe and Hawthorn he joined Mornington in 2010. He was a member of the VL2 Premiership side in 2014 and won the Mens VL1 Best and Fairest in 2015.

In 2019 Steve plans to bring a fresh perspective to his coaching role and is looking forward to bringing a modern, energetic, attacking approach to the Mens section. Outside of hockey Steve owns and manages a Natural Medicine Clinic in Mornington and is involved in a local Triathlon Club — Trispecify where he both coaches athletes and group sessions.
